Thank you all for your work to Create a Campus of Distinction! UNC Charlotte is indeed a special place due to the work you do every day to make it so. I am very proud of all we have accomplished together. Looking back, I am perhaps most proud of how we have grown and matured our organization into the high performing team it is today. As you heard in the all employees meetings in April, the search for my replacement has started with the goal of bringing three candidates to campus and making a selection before I retire at the end of August.

I am hopeful we can have a smooth transition and that I will have a brief overlap with the new AVC. There are other important leadership transitions taking place in the Department as well.

Bart Bruchok is on board as our new Director of Capital Projects. A short bio is included in this issue on page As the Associate Director for Capital Projects - Engineering, he has been an important leader at UNC Charlotte for the past 17 years and has been instrumental in the development, maintenance, and operation of the campus.

We will miss him greatly. It is wonderful to see the light rail trains running on campus. The Blue Line Extension has been over ten years in the making. It will truly connect UNC Charlotte to the city we call home. This first-class facility will complete in early September. Our Facilities Operations team will finally have space worthy of the outstanding work they do. Developing the list of projects, funding, and schedule for this program is quite challenging. We are striving to complete this and get it approved by the Chancellor and Board of Trustees before I retire.

The myriad of projects in this program will reflect the continued growth of our university.
