I believe, rightly or wrongly, that ground sheets, of any nature, inside a caravan awning, are put there for one reason Fully agree, therefore, that these should be breathable, if you must have one at all. Genuine question Would a breathable ground sheet, in an awning, for example, protect the grass more than no groundsheet at all?

If so, I'd take back my previous "Comfort" comment, and add an apology. Genuinely interested in that For the record, I have recently purchased a non-breathable ZIG for the awnings of my tent. In all honesty, I purchased it "Just in case", along with the purchase of the rest of my tent, as it would mean time, effort and cost to send my awnings back to Holland to have one made at a later date, hence my purchase now.

I genuinely don't think we'll use it The awning ZIG , and it will prove a waste of money. I must admit, if I did ever feel the need to use it, I would again put a separate footprint under it, for protection. Now that, IMO, would be selfish of me, and I would readily hold my hands up to that!

I was asked whether I had a breathable groundsheet at South Lytchett and I mumbled something barely comprehensible to avoid a direct answer which would have to be 'No'.

I noticed a bit of frustration in the person's eyes but I was only staying for 2 nights so got away with it. It's a shame because the site was great with stunning facilities and wonderful staff which helped me to 're-introduce' my wife to camping it was our first camping trip with kids. This strange rule does mean that I will probably not go back there any time soon.

Genuinely interested in that having used a breathable groundsheet in our dining area outside the tent for two weeks and interested in the damage we leave I did examine and photo our pitch on leaving. I believe although may be wrong that it did protect the grass from wearing in high traffic areas. Whilst it was flattened it didn't appear to be any thinner especially when compared to the high traffic area at the entrance.

I originally begrudged paying for a breathable groundsheet but after seeing the grass wear inside the drive away awning in the lake district bought an off cut for it and must say I'm impressed with how 'eco' it actually is and then bought another larger piece for the front of the Palamos 6. Thanks, Tynx. I kind of thought that, as I was writing my last post, hence the question. It does seem to make sense, the more I try to envisage such a set up.

Maybe these caravanner's do use them to protect the grass, as opposed to just trying to keep their feet a little drier. Apologies to caravanner's-who-use-awning-ground-sheets, if that's the case, for my earlier "Comfort only" remark.

Another thought just entered my head now These site's that demand "Breathable ground sheets only". I presume they mean as opposed to non breathable ground sheets? I presume they wont turn you away if you turn up with no ground sheet at all, because you "prefer bare grass"! Mucker The site I mentioned says tent with sig is fine but any other footprint has to be breathable.

I am looking into it myself as I can see this becoming more and more the norm for reasons others have mentioned. If its really wet we can lay a walkway from the awning away from the caravan , so its dry by the time at the awning. We carry enough to cover a 4x 5 meters. Weighs about 10 kg. But in 5 plastic bags. But we don't sit in our awning, it is just for storing the chairs and tables and dogs bed during the day. May 24, 3, 20, Im fairly sure Isabella make them pre-cut to size.

Try and Google Isabella Bolon. Davan Caravans reports three colours in stock, 2. Jan 3, 6, 1, 25, Hutch said:. Thingy said:. I would suggest the fact that Bolon has lasted "many years" would be your starter for Bolon would fit in a machine at a Launderette. Jun 16, 1, 1, We use an oversized light gray Bolon also old.

It suits us if we use the canopy awning or the Fiamma. When we did have a porch we folded it to size. It is many years old.

Each year I lay it on the drive and jet wash it. Attwoolls have shelves full of many different sized carpets, but they all tend to be dark coloured. Seems to be the thing now. You must log in or register to reply here. Post thread. Cost of fuel Started by Buckman Oct 27, Replies:
