Nintendo's DSi went on sale in the States over two years ago now. The system, which was the third revision of the DS hardware to be made available in America, stuck pretty close to its predecessors in overall design - two screens, touch-based control, a microphone, a clamshell construction - while making some tweaks and additions too, like bumping up the size of the screens and including a couple of small digital cameras.

Perhaps the biggest new addition, though, wasn't a visible change in the system itself. It was in the software. It was the DSi Shop. YES NO. Titles like Shantae: Risky's Revenge and Dr. Mario Express have found themselves on the chopping block thanks to this alarming purge. Nintendo has yet to comment on these removals. Luckily I got it on my DSi before that shop shut down. Grab from those still for sale while you can!

Recs in thread.. Thanks to that very lack of communication, it's unclear whether or not these removals are actually intentional. Nintendo has made mistakes on that front before. Shortly after the Switch port of Pikmin 3 Deluxe was announced, for instance, the original Wii U version vanished from that console's eShop.

It was relisted some time later , to the great relief of Pikmin fans who hadn't yet made the generational leap. While gamers have still been able to enjoy a plethora of DSiWare through the Nintendo 3DS' eShop, it seems that Nintendo is working on removing some titles from the eShop completely. Most notably, Shantae: Risky's Revenge has been removed from the eShop, despite originally being developed solely as a DSiWare title for the system.

Though not all DSiWare titles have been removed from the eShop, for one reason or another, the removal seems to only include DSiWare released prior to mid-May It's worth noting that Risky's Revenge was brought to the Nintendo Switch last year, also being made available as a physical game on Switch and PlayStation 4.
